I practically grew up on this beach. As a kid we’d spend all day here. I enjoyed exploring the sand dunes, watching the swans and ducks in the wetlands, floating out beyond the waves where the ocean was calm, surfing, exploring the rock pools, having perriwinkle races, collecting shells, finding star fish, snorkelling, making sand sculptures, burying my dad up to his neck, and swimming for hours. Sometimes I’d rock scramble around to Mystics Beach, or walk over the headland, depending on the tide. There were sand tracks through the forest to Minnamurra River on the other side of the spit. When the tide wasn’t changing, Minnamurra River was a great place to swim.
