Things to do on Bedarra Island

There’s plenty of activities to keep you occupied on Bedarra Island, everything from sky diving to underwater diving, but be warned: as you unwind to the natural rhythm of island time, you might be inclined to throw that To Do list away. Most guests on Bedarra Island find that contentment fills them so completely  they no longer have a desire to tick off a list of activities.

To ‘do’, or to simply ‘be’. The choice really is yours at Bedarra Island.

Nature Walks

Shady paths meander through the lush tropical rainforests, popping out here and there onto lookout points with stunning views of verdant islands dotting the turquoise sea. Find the perfect location for a sunset cocktail or picnic, get acquainted with the wildlife and butterflies, or stroll the empty powder-white beaches and monolithic rock formations.

“Tranquil, secluded, exotic… amazing!” Chris W, Trip Advisor review for East Bedarra Island Retreat.

Swimming and Snorkeling

Most villas on Bedarra Island provide their guests with snorkeling gear. The waters of Bedarra Island are warm and crystal clear, and the Great Barrier Reef is right on your doorstep.

After swimming or snorkeling, doze on the sand as the breeze whispers through the palm fronds and the sun warms your skin.

“We hiked every trail, snorkelled, kayaked, fed the eel, and totally relaxed like never before. We love and cherish this magical place. ” Review on Trip Advisor for East Bedarra Island Retreat.

Kayaking

Most of the villas on Bedarra Island provide their guests with a kayak so you can explore the coves of Bedarra Island. It takes about 2-3 hours to circumnavigate the 100 hectare island, but if you call into beaches and stop for swims and picnics along the way, you could fill a day.

Scuba Diving

Should you wish to go further afield to the outer reef and try scuba diving, there are many operators to chose from. Each is a little different. Your host will have details and recommendations.

Fishing

There’s nothing like fresh fish caught the very same day. If you’d like to catch your own meal, hand lines and tackle are provided by most of the Bedarra Island villas. For the more avid fishers, fully-catered charters can be arranged via your host.

On our first morning we had fresh fish for breakfast that we had just caught…” Glenda E, tripadvisor review for East Bedarra Island Resort.

Sky Diving

For the thrill seekers, Jump the Beach is one of the most scenic skydiving operations in Far North Queensland with magnificent views over the islands and across the Great Barrier Reef.
